How does the magnetic mounting work — do I need to drill into the wall?
No, you do not need to drill into the wall. The Visiontron Magnetic WM700 Series Retractable Wall Mount features a built-in magnetic mounting plate that attaches directly to any ferromagnetic surface — such as steel door frames, metal columns, warehouse racking, or filing cabinets. Installation is completely tool-free: you simply align the unit against the magnetic surface, and the strong magnet holds it securely in place.
This makes the magnetic wall mount an ideal choice for temporary crowd control setups, events, or environments where you need to frequently reposition barriers without leaving holes or hardware behind. It’s also well suited for leased spaces where permanent modifications aren’t permitted.
Because the mount relies on magnetic attraction, it will not adhere to non-magnetic surfaces like wood, drywall, concrete, aluminum, or stainless steel. If you need to install on those types of surfaces, Visiontron offers a fixed-mount version of the same wall unit that uses screws for a permanent hold. What’s the difference between the Standard Belt End and the Magnetic Belt End?
The two belt end options on the Visiontron Magnetic WM700 10ft Wall Mount serve different connection needs, and choosing the right one depends on how you plan to terminate the belt.
- The Standard Belt End is a universal clip-style connector with a built-in safety lock. It hooks into a compatible receiving end mounted on an opposite wall, or into the top of a retractable belt stanchion post. This is the most common configuration and works with standard receiving ends (RE) as well as magnetic receiving ends (RE-M).
- The Magnetic Belt End replaces the clip mechanism with a magnetic connection point. Instead of hooking into a receiver, it snaps magnetically onto a dedicated Magnetic Belt End Receiving End (RE-MBE) or any ferromagnetic surface. This allows for quick, tool-free attachment and release — useful in high-turnover environments where barriers are opened and closed frequently.
An important compatibility note: magnetic belt ends only work with the RE-MBE receiving end and are not compatible with standard or RE-M receivers. If you select the magnetic belt end, be sure to pair it with the correct receiving end or magnetic surface.
Can I use this wall mount outdoors?

The unit is available in two case finishes — Smooth Black Steel and Satin Stainless Steel — and only the satin stainless steel option is weather resistant and recommended for outdoor installations.

This means you don’t need to replace your entire crowd control system to add magnetic wall-mounted barriers. If you already have stanchion posts from one of these compatible brands, you can extend the belt from the wall mount directly into the receiver on your existing post.

Do I need to buy a receiving end separately, and which one should I get?
In most setups, yes — a receiving end or stanchion post is required to anchor the opposite end of the belt. The wall mount houses the retractable belt mechanism on one side, but the belt needs something to clip or connect into on the other side. The one exception is if you select the magnetic belt end, which can attach directly to a magnetic surface without a receiving end.
When adding the WM700 to your cart, you’ll see three receiving end options. The Standard Receiving End (RE) mounts to a wall with screws and accepts the standard belt clip. The Standard Magnetic Receiving End (RE-M) does the same job but attaches magnetically to metal surfaces instead of requiring screws — a great pairing with the magnetic wall mount for a fully tool-free setup. The Magnetic Belt End Receiving End (RE-MBE) is designed exclusively for use with the magnetic belt end option.
